Aunt Bee becomes "Miss Independent Wheels" when she buys a car from Goober and
then must learn to drive. She breaks her promise to Andy not to drive on her
learner's permit without a licensed driver accompanying her and backs into a
tree. Lighting strikes twice when Andy comes home and accidently bumps into
Bee's car, causing him to think he's the one who dented it.

Opie gets in hot water when he enters an essay contest by writing a paper on the
historic Battle of Mayberry, a famous fight between the settlers and the indians
that established the town of Mayberry. After interviewing many descendents of
the people involved, Opie learns that the battle was nothing more than a
misunderstanding caused by too much liquor. The only casualties were one scrawny
cow, three deer, and one mule that was mistaken for a deer.

* Actor Norm Alden would appear in the season eight TAGS episode "Howard The Bowler", as Hank, a bowler from Mount Pilot.
* Actor Clinton Sundberg would later appear in a 1968 episode of "Mayberry R.F.D." entitled "Sam Gets A Ticket". He plays a salesman and is credited as Clinton Sunberg instead of Sundberg.
* Actor Arthur Malet appeared 10 episodes earlier as the vagrant who tries to convince Andy that he stole Aunt Bee's brooch in "Lost And Found".

*At about 19min and 48 sec into this episode there is a street scene with Andy and Opie outside the Grand Theatre. If you look on the wall behind them you will see a movie poster advertising a movie called, "Bells For Heroes". There was never such a movie but it appears the TAGS prop crew did a little artwork modifications with this poster. In 1962 about 4 years before this episode was filmed there was a movie produced called, "Hell Is For Heroes". The real film starred Steve Mcqueen, Bobbie Darrin, Fess Parker to name a few. If you look closely at the photo you can see where the title was edited. The 'H' in Hell was changed to a 'B'. The 'S' on Bells was added on and is in fact a little larger than the other letters. The word 'Is' has been blocked out with red ink. You can actually barely make out McQueen's photos and name at the top of the photo.

Gotta watch those prop guys...sneaky, sneaky

Barney accidentally nabs bad-guy bank robber Eddie Brooks while issuing him a ticket for littering. Brooks tries to escape after spotting state troopers, but the troopers get their man. Before Brooks is carted off, he makes a point of promising revenge on the bumbling deputy responsible for his capture. Brooks manages to escape and is last seen making a beeline to Mayberry. Andy orchestrates Brooks's recapture, tricking Barney into firing his gun (directly at Andy), which induces Brooks to surrender.

In this episode at 2 minutes and 22 seconds, as the State Patrol spots if you look at the building in the background you will see a sign that reads, "Waverly Malt and Hops Corp". Nothing unusual except that Mayberry is supposed to be in a dry county. Why would you need malt and hops in a dry county?

Also at 2 minutes and 30 seconds the patrol car is passing in front of a drug store, then about 5 seconds later they are passing in front of the same building but now there is a car parked in front. A white 1961 Ford .
