'''Alberta Nelson''' (August 14, 1937 - April 29, 2006) was an American television actress. She was born on August 14, 1937, and attended Villa Maria Academy and later graduated from Andrews High School in Willoughby, Ohio. After several dramatic parts in television in the early 1960s, Nelson made five guest appearances on "[[The Andy Griffith Show]]" and "[[Mayberry R.F.D.]]" - four of them as [[Goober Pyle]]'s girlfriend, [[Flora Malherbe]].

Nelson also appeared in seven movies in the 1960s as Eric Von Zipper's girlfriend in the successful American International "Beach Party" series. She is the only person who appeared in all seven Beach Party movies, including "Beach Party," "Muscle Beach Party" and "How to Stuff a Wild Bikini." Nelson played the leather clad "rat pack" biker chick Puss (sometimes also called Alberta and in one film called Lisa), one of the comic villains who dogged the steps of America's sweethearts, Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon.

After her successful girl-next-door stint as Flora on "The Andy Griffith Show" and her comedic career as biker girl Puss, Nelson starred in 1970s "The Wild Scene" as Dr. Virginia Grant, a female psychiatrist. Unfortunately, this role did not live up to the wholesome image of Mayberry's Flora. This and a 1970 appearance on "Love, American Style" would be Nelson's last credited roles.

Alberta Nelson was married 35 years to Herbert Gilman. She passed away in Pennsylvania on April 29, 2006.

* "[[Eat Your Heart Out (TAGS Episode)|Eat Your Heart Out]]" - Flora first shows up in the episode "[[Eat Your Heart Out (TAGS Episode)|Eat Your Heart Out]]" (February 28, 1966) as the new waitress in [[Mayberry]] who has a crush on [[Andy Taylor]] while Goober has a crush on her. Flora's infatuation with Sheriff Taylor complicates his relationship both with Goober and with [[Helen Crump]] until he is able to convince Flora that Goober is the fellow for her.

* "[[Goober's Replacement (TAGS Episode)|Goober's Replacement]]" - Next Flora offers to take Goober's place at [[Wally's Service Station]] when Goober goes fishing in "[[Goober's Replacement (TAGS Episode)|Goober's Replacement]]" (March 28, 1966). ==Plot Summary==
In a quandary over what to get his wife, Martha, for their anniversary, Emmett
decides to buy her the fur she's always wanted. Trying to save a few dollars, he
goes to Mount Pilot to see [[Flora Malherbe]]'s friend in the fur business, Bernie the Furrier, (played by [[Ronnie Schell]]). While Emmett is
sneaking off with Flora, he is spottted by his wife, who thinks he is having an
affair. Andy spills the beans to save Emmett's hide, but the plot thickens when
Emmett decides against the mink and, with Martha expecting a fur, he returns
with a bathrobe. He and Andy do some fancy talking, and Emett rushes back to
Mount Pilot to buy the fur.

Nelson also appeared in seven moviesin the 1960s as Eric Von Zipper's girlfriend in the successful American International "Beach Party" series. She is the only person who appeared in all seven Beach Party movies, including "Beach Party," "Muscle Beach Party" and "How to Stuff a Wild Bikini." Nelson played the leather clad "rat pack" biker chick Puss (sometimes also called Alberta and in one film called Lisa), one of the comic villians who dogged the steps of America's sweethearts, Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon.

After her successful girl-next-door stint as Flora on "The Andy Griffith Show" and her comedic career as biker girl Puss, Nelson starred in 1970s "The Wild Scene" as Dr. Virginia Grant, a female psychiatrist. Unfortunately, this role did not live up to the wholesome image of Mayberry's Flora. This and a 1970 appearance on "Love, American Style" would be Nelson's last credited roles.

Alberta Nelson passed away in Pennsylvania in April of 2006.

Flora's infatuation with Sheriff Taylor complicates his relationship both with Goober and with [[Helen Crump]]. More than once, Flora swaps plates to give Andy the better portion, and on one occasion, flirty Flora follows Sheriff Taylor into the woods.

* "[[Eat Your Heart Out]]" - Flora first shows up in the episode "[[Eat Your Heart Out]]" ([[February 28]], [[1966]]) as the new waitress in [[Mayberry]] who has a crush on [[Andy Taylor]] while Goober has a crush on her. Flora's infatuation with Sheriff Taylor complicates his relationship both with Goober and with [[Helen Crump]] until he is able to convince Flora that Goober is the fellow for her.

* "[[Goober's Replacement]]" - Next Flora offers to take Goober's place at [[Wally's Service Station]] when Goober goes fishing in "[[Goober's Replacement]]" ([[March 28]], [[1966]]). She is seen at the station wearing slacks, a work shirt with oil rag hanging out the pocket, a service cap and a money changer on her belt, and the comment is made that she looks good in slacks. When Goober returns from his trip, he discovers that [[Wally]] and his customers are quite happy with Flora and in no hurry for Goober to resume his duties. He also discovers Flora is more interested in making improvements at the station than she is in romance. It is up to Andy to convince Flora to save her relationship with Goober by stepping down to allow Goober to have his old job back.

In all four episodes, Flora is shown to be a warm-hearted, slightly naive, young woman who works hard and strives to do a good job both as a waitress and at [[Wally's]]. Her warm-hearted naiveté makes her a suitable match for Goober. She is depicted as unselfish as she volunteers to help Goober at Wally's and then steps down from a job she enjoys to save that relationship. She is always helpful and assists Emmett in shopping for Martha.
