Plot Summary

Ellie runs for office, breaking the Mayberry tradition of what had been an all-male town council. Once again, Andy learns a lesson from Opie when he hears his own antiwoman opinions parroted by his son. Realizing the error of his ways, Andy speaks in favor of Ellie, rallying the citizenry to her side.

  • Actress Mary Treen also portrayed the part of "Rose", the Taylor's original housekeeper in the first TAGS episode, "The New Housekeeper".
  • Actor Forrest Lewis appeared in 7 episodes of TAGS. Most famously, he appeared as Cy Hudgins, the owner of Jimmy "The Loaded Goat".
  • A TV Guide featuring Lucille Ball on the cover is seen for sale in Walker's Drugstore. It will appear numerous times during the season and it sits among the stuffed animals and is also found near the safety razors. This is an authentic issue, dated October 9, 1954.
